BRADFORD L. BENNETT
Philosophy
With over 16 years of experience, Brad has successfully resolved hundreds of divorce and family law cases both inside and out of the courtroom. During his career, Brad has developed a unique approach to the practice of family law, one that focuses not only on the immediate needs of his clients, but whether those needs will be met well after the conclusion of their case. Brad’s client can expect ongoing strategy dialogues throughout his representation as well as an education on the cost-benefit analysis of each decision. While Brad believes most family law matters are best resolved by the parties through settlement, he is not afraid to advocate for his clients through litigation or leverage their positions with a detailed discovery investigation. The results Brad obtains for his clients are reflective of his varied background, comprehensive experience, courtroom acumen, as well as the strategic approach he develops for each case.
Education
Brad graduated with honors from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2003, obtaining dual Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology, while gaining valuable experience as a law clerk for the Monroe County (IN) Public Defender’s Office.
Brad then attended Golden Gate University (CA) School of Law, and while obtaining his law degree in 2006, worked as a law clerk in the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office. He also served as the editor of the International Law Review and also helped edit and research the California Real Estate Forms Second Edition (Thomson West 2006).
While practicing family law full-time, Brad continued his educational pursuits at night by earning his Masters of Law (LL.M) degree in Family Law from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2012. At Kent, Brad was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in “Advanced Legal Writing” as well as “Children and Divorce”.
In 2016, Brad became both a trained and certified family law mediator as well as collaborative law attorney to better offer an alternative to the often costly and time-consuming model of litigating family law matters in court.
Rounding out his skill set, Brad became a 'Certified Divorce Financial Analyst' in 2017 having passed all four rigorous exams to earn such distinction by the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.
