Education
Brad graduated with honors from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2003, earning dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology. During his undergraduate studies, Brad gained valuable experience as a law clerk for the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office, where he was first introduced to the judicial system and began to develop a strong foundation in legal advocacy.​

In 2006, Brad earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from Golden Gate University School of Law in addition to a Real Estate Law Specialization Certificate. While in law school, he worked as a law clerk in the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office, served as editor of the International Law Review, and contributed to the second edition of California Real Estate Forms (Thomson West, 2006).​

Certifications
Dedicated to providing effective alternatives to traditional litigation, Brad became a trained and certified mediator and collaborative law professional in 2016. Building on this foundation, he became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA®) in 2017, successfully completing the four rigorous exams offered by the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts®. Further expanding his expertise, Brad completed the prestigious CDC Certified Divorce Coach® program in 2024, equipping him with the skills necessary to provide personalized, one-on-one divorce coaching services to clients nationwide.

In recognition of Brad's advocacy as a divorce and family law attorney, he has been named an Illinois “Super Lawyer” for 13 of the past 15 years. He was first honored as a “Rising Star” from 2010 to 2012 and again from 2015 to 2021. From 2022 to 2025, Brad has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer”, a peer-nominated distinction awarded to only a select group of attorneys statewide.

Professional Contributions
Brad's involvement in the legal community extends beyond advocacy in the courtroom. He had the privilege of chairing the Media Committee of the DuPage County Bar Association (2011 to 2013), where he produced its television show, Legal Action. Additionally, Brad served on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Child Law Section Council (2015 to 2017) as well as the Judiciary Evaluations Committees for both the DuPage County Bar Association (2012 to 2017) and the Chicago Bar Association (2014 to 2018).


Community Involvement
Giving back to the legal community is important to Brad. He volunteers at the DuPage County Court Legal Help Desk, assist litigants during “Pro Se Day” at the Will County Courthouse, and support individuals seeking Emergency Orders of Protection at the Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse. In recognition of his commitment, Brad was honored with the Pro Bono Service Award from the DuPage County Bar Association in 2009.
Publications
​Brad has reflected on his career as an attorney and explored emerging developments in family law through various articles he has authored, which have been published by the Illinois State Bar Association. In 2016, Brad explored the complexities of embryo legislation in his article, Proposed Bill May Provide Remedy in Aftermath of Embryo Dispute, published in Child Law Division News. In 2014, he provided a unique perspective on judicial decision-making with his article, Knowing Your Judge – Behind the Black Robe, and in 2013, he offered guidance to new legal professionals with More Things You Never Learned in Law School, both featured in Young Lawyers Division News.
